PIATTO DEL CUORE BETWEEN DESIGN AND SOLIDARITY

The "Piatto del Cuore",  designed by Giulio Cappellini, was presented in Comune by the Mayor Letizia Moratti, first of a series of collection plates signed by the most important Italian designers for a solidarity action for the elders promoted by the dall'Assessore alle Politiche Sociali di Milano Mariolina Moioli. A new initiative by Gisella Borioli, that has cured the artistic direction and has invited, after Cappellini, Alessandro Mendini, Fabio Novembre, Matteo Thun, Paola Navone, Sergio Calatroni, Michele De Lucchi, authors of a plate per year until 2015, with a special Christmas Edition 2009 signed by Krizia. 1000 "Piatto del Cuore" per year, realized and donated to the Comune by Ceramica Flaminia, will be given to the most qualified restaurants of Milan, that will commit themselves in hospitality actions for elders, coordinated by Epam, Associazione milanese pubblici esercizi of the Unione del Commercio. Restaurants that already have taken part in the iniziative are Peck, Savini, Saddler, Il Ristorante del Teatro alla Scala by Gualtiero Marchesi, Aimo e Nadia, Il Giardinetto and other quality restaurants. The first “Piatto del Cuore” signed by Giulio Cappellini will be displayed at the Temporary Museum of Superstudio Più, during the Design Week from April 22 to 27, in the Caffè Italiano. THE TALENTS' CRADLE IS IN THE BASEMENT - DESIGN WEEK APRIL 22-27, 2009

New talents, emerging countries, experimental and innovative proposals…the space for discovering is the Basement at Superstudio Più, for the first time at disposal of young designers and ideas coming from far. "Discovering: other worlds, other ideas" is a path full of surprises and discoveries, in the ex bomb shelters of ex-General Electric's, now headquarter of Superstudio Più. The itinerary follows with the section "Young talents on show", 20 young designers selected all over the world by the editions of Elle Decoration Network, “Hidden Heroes”, group show of maverick designers from all around the world, “Unexpected Objects”, a selection of proposals by emerging designers and nations. The original proposal by Design Apparat, with furnishing produced in Bulgaria, retracing the severe aesthetics of the post-war years, is also a must to see.

FASHION AND DESIGN: SUPERSTUDIO'S SHOWROOM BECOMES TEMPORARY GALLERIES- DESIGN WEEK APRIL 22-27, 2009

Superstudio Più's upper floors, usually fashion showrooms, become exhibiting spaces. Alberto del Biondi Industria del Design presents the exhibition "Nerocarbonio", a review on unique objects and pieces realized in carbon for leader companies in the Italian panorama, besides reinterpretation of cult and historical objects.
Gas proposes  "Gas4Relax", relax room and recreational container, a space for interaction and exchange, chat, play and music, where design-addicted can recharge their batteries and regenerate their spirits and free their minds.
“Skin. Emotional surface, a touch of extended light” is the title of the installation at De Ponte Studio|DPSA+D/La Perla. Soft surfaces, extensive, elastic and reactive to the light, to deal with the theme of the soft qualities of architecture and design through the creation of emotional spaces. THE HEART OF DESIGN

The Comune di Milano and famous designers and artists, together for the charity initiative "Piatto del Cuore". Produced by Ceramica Flaminia, one per year, from 2009 to 2015, Expo year, the plates will be decorated around the common theme “heart”, freely interpreted by the authors. Giulio Cappellini signs the first piece, presented on preview at the Temporary Museum for New Design. Some participants will be Matteo Thun, Paola Navone e Michele De Lucchi. The “little church” poor and poetic touches the heart, decorated with remembers of famous architects and other persons that are going to come on a procession those days, thought for Naba by Alessandro Guerriero and Riccardo Dalisi.

Prestigious new entry at Superstudio Più, Bookstore Skira, the most important  publisher for design and art books and catalogues. On sale, besides the publications about relevant themes for the visitors, also the new collection of useful objects by Skira Edition, like the little trolley, perfect to carry easily books and catalogues, or the famous vases by Gaetano Pesce and the t-shirt souvenir by Feeldude, expressly created for the Design Week.

QUBO. COURTESY FUNNY CARS

A cartoon name, a squared shape, a free space inside, adaptable for every occasion. Qubo is the courtesy car given by Fiat for Superstudio guest during the Design Week to visit the area and go to the Rho-Pero metro. Available on request and on reservation at Superstudio  Più and Superstudio 13. The V.I.P. (very important professional) given at the registration to the qualified visitors is compulsory.

DINAMIC RELAX BY GAS4RELAX - DESIGN WEEK APRIL 22-27 2009

The Relax Room by Gas is a container of dynamic relax, spaces for interaction, exchange, chat, play and music.
Here passionate and professionals of creativity can stop to enjoy a relaxing experience in Gas style in a place where design addicted can recharge their batteries, regenerate their spirits and free their minds.
The exhibition contributes to create an emotional area, recreational, colored and involving, where the pavement remembers of a big lawn, symbol of freedom, movement and amusement. Meetings not to miss, as the massage area from 4 to 6 pm from Thursday to Sunday and spritz time on Friday April 24, in collaboration with Rodeo Magazine, dj set by Marcelo Burlon.

THE EMOTIONAL SPACE SKIN BY DE PONTE STUDIO DPSA+D/LA PERLA - DESIGN WEEK APRIL 22-27, 2009

An installation of soft surfaces to deal with the theme of soft qualities of architecture and design. Silvio De Ponte, coming from a personal research path, experimentation and creation of high-performing products of light quality, proposes in the showroom La Perla emotional atmospheres that represents the evolutionary process between light and material in synthesis between the shape of the objects and the light itself.
A collection of lamps "Big Size", designed by Silvo De Ponte, will be presented as well.

NEROCARBONIO BY ALBERTO DEL BIONDI - DESIGN WEEK APRIL 22-27, 2009

 
An exclusive review of objects realized in carbon on the design by Alberto Del Biondi Industria del Design, where the visitor could admire unique pieces, produced by leader companies in the Italian panorama, besides some reinterpretations in carbon of cult and historical objects. The exhibition expresses a new approach in the usage of the material, that is not linked only to a technical and performing aspect in F1 cars and space probes, but also acquires an aesthetic and emotional value in the production of daily usage objects, where the purity of the shapes melts with the essentiality of the carbon colors. DESIGN BOOK, INTERNATIONAL FACE OF DESIGN - DESIGN WEEK APRIL 22-27 2009

Contaminations between art, food and design to satisfy all the gluttony desires of the
Design Week. Fabio Baldassarre, the awarded chef of Gambero Rosso, accepts the challenge of Convivium Banqueting and take care of four different locations, reinterpreting the classical restaurants of Superstudio. At Dada Café of Superstudio Più typical plates of the Milanese tradition and an exceptional set in collaboration with Slide, that presents on preview the projects-collaborations with Karim Rashid, Gianni Arnaudo and emerging talent of design. At Superstudio Più too, Caffè Italiano proposes light plates, finger food e home made pastries for nifty breaks. Elle Decor Caffé, inside Diadora showroom, proposes slow and fast menu with film shows and video interviews to the top international designers. At Superstudio 13 the Mediterranean food of Superstudio Café (in the picture) ant the ultralight and tasty vegetarian menu of La Cucina dell'Orto, just next to the little modular and eco-friendly houses designed by Aldo Cibic.

TEMPORARY MUSEUM FOR NEW DESIGN: WORK IN PROGRESS

Great attendance of journalists and designers for Superstudio's press conference. The new webpage of Superstudio Group will soon be on-line, with updated contents about the activities of the group. Improved graphic (by Studio b16) and web usability both in the Italian and English version, for a total restyling in accordance to Superstudio's soul.
The various sections will be extended and updated in order to guarantee a better information about new projects, as "Temporary Museum for New Design", the new autonomous project for the Design Week 2009, and the circuit "(con)TemporaryArt", coming back in November 2009.

GISELLA BORIOLI EDITOR CONSULTANT FOR RODEO

An old and never forgotten passion, journalism, for Gisella Borioli, awarded professional and brilliant editor of important headings like "Lei", "Donna" and the Italian edition of "Madame Figaro".
