Location and studios. Events, fashion, art, design, entertainment, fairs, convention. Creativity, projects and services

Art heavily inhabits Superstudio Più spaces: right at the entrance with Flavio Lucchini's big iron and steel sculptures - distinguishing the Art Garden, a spacious conifer garden - and still at the Art Point, the new hall ideal for wide-ranging art exhibitions, such as the important single exhibitions of Omar Galliani, by Flaminio Gualdoni, Il Papero Rosso, by Vittorio Sgarbi, Bros, by Art Kitchen and the joint exhibition of Tradizioni temporanee by the Yunnan Art Academy and by Martina Corgnati and of Credit Suisse's Art & Entrepreneurship by Philippe Daverio.

Contemporary art, exhibitions by young artists, cutting-edge performances, innovative art events and video art are often displayed also in other halls, such as the picturesque and unusual Basement, an underground space ideal for alternative exhibitions.
In November 2005, Superstudio created a permanent space entirely devoted to contemporary art: the new MyOwnGallery.
MyOwnGallery is a new type of gallery, a "concept gallery", a place both physical and conceptual, that delivers contemporary art events, offers opportunities to brand new artists, works together with other galleries, scouts and promotes new selected artists, who fulfill precise criteria of quality, commitment, professional competence, edginess and research.
The gallery, placed at the Superstudio Più entrance, adjacent to the Art Point, occupies a well-lit construction on two floors, combining the old industrial architecture with a contemporary style building in glass and white concrete. An exclusive "window" also for out-of-town or international galleries in search of a location for special events, which can expand its 250 square-meter surface up to 7000 square meters, by exploiting the Superstudio Più adjacent spaces.

In April 2007, a new space devoted to art is opened in Superstudio Più. It's called art.box, the new on-the-street virtual micro gallery, joining in MyOwnGallery's activity. This place was created by turning a car garage into an art garage, overlooking via Tortona, at the number 27/bis and hosts installations, small exhibitions, art showcases - each time entrusted to a different artist or curator. At the same time, art.box on line presents the leading artworks and artists of the contemporary art scene.

In spring 2008, Superstudio became the main stage of (con)Temporary Art, the contemporary and temporary art circuit of via Tortona and adjacent areas. Organized by the M.A.T. Milano Altri Talenti association, with Gisella Borioli as artistic director, (con)Temporary Art is an art week, involving the locations and the galleries of the whole neighborhood with curatorial projects and site specific (single or joint exhibitions, performances, shows, live music, meetings with the artists, etc.), aimed at opening the doors to art and at breaking out of the mould.

Two important debuts in 2011 have had a great audiences and critics success: AAF, Affordable Art Fair (www.affordableartfair.it), the main international fair of art under 5000 euro of quality that involves Italian and internationals galleries and  MIA, Milan Image Art Fair (www.miafair.it) the first Italian art fair for photography and video art created by Fabio Castelli. See also the section "fair" on this website.

Superstudio Più also hosted the first editions of MINT, Milano International Antiques and Modern Art Exhibition, devoted to antiques and modern art, and of AAM, the first Accessible Art Salon held in Milan of independent artists and young galleries.

After devoting his life to the world of fashion publishing – where he founded and directed the most important Italian female fashion magazines: from "Fantasia", created in 1960, "Amica", created in 1962, "Vogue Italia" and all the group's magazines, to "Donna" and "Mondo Uomo", leaving out the minor publications – in 1990, Flavio Lucchini began to fully devote himself to his ever-lasting passion: sculpture. His artworks address his leading role in the fashion world, his love for beauty, his idea of a dress, seen not only as a way to cover the body but as a way to transcend it.
These are artworks investigating the mystery of clothes as a social cultural expression; paintings, sculptures, basso-rilievos, digital-art reflecting on contemporary times.
A massive archive-gallery, located next to the Basement, unveils room by room the history of  Flavio Lucchini, Superstudio Più resident artist.
On display at Undergallery, we find his reflections on the fashion circus Fashion-Lunapark; the early Nineties Dress-Toys – irregular cubes in colored lacquered iron or in Cor-ten steel – candidly arranged as to represent figures and clothes; the deified clothes taking the shape of urban Dress-Totems; the Gold sculptures, in which the artist approaches to the better-defined dress; the Dress-Memories displaying a personal weakness towards beautiful clothes; the Ghosts, ethereal ghostly dresses; the Dolls, naïve cheeky girls, ironic and colorful; the Faces, women portraits as sketched by a child; the Flowers, big imaginary flowers; the Marshmallows, sweet puppets in the American candy palette; and finally the Burqas and the Covers, on the same theme, reflecting on the denial of women's rights, yesterday as much as today.
In 2011 the consecration with the partecipation to the 54. Venice Biennale with a double exhibition: in the Italy Pavilion-Lombardy Region "Next Prada?" curated by Vittorio Sgarbi, digital painting reworked, and in the Italy Pavilion-Torino with two Dress Memory and a Ghost sculpture.

Flavio Lucchini's atelier is placed inside Superstudio Più, in via Tortona, and can be visited by appointment only.
